Introduction to Interaction Design

We had our first class Current Issues in interaction design with Mr. Bob Field. He gave a briefing about the course. Before I come to the introduction I thought interaction designing is more related to HCI (Human Computer Interaction) and software designing. After the intro I have figured out that my idea is not correct because the course is all about products designing, designing principles, behaviours of products, and etc..

Interaction Design is the “Professional discipline that define the behaviour of interactive products and how products communicate their functionality to the people who use them”

We had another class Interaction design practise with Mr. Andy Bardill. It was a very interesting starting to the course. We had to give a briefing about our self; what we did for our first degree, work experience, where did we come from and etc.

We learned about  Three key characteristics in ID

  1.      Focus on users and user needs

  2.      Specific usability and user experience goal

3.      Iteration

6 usability specific criteria

  1. Effectiveness
  2. Efficiency
  3. Safety
  4. Utility
  5. Learnability
  6. Memorability
